Why Southern June Clever? Part Two
Why Southern? Well, I'm from the south. The deep south. Alabama. I've been following some blogs written by "southern women" and most of them seem to be from Texas. Now I certainly do consider Texas as being south, but it's southwest and it's different. Being a"southern"woman is a personality, an attitude. Southern women are strong, yet feminine; sassy, yet demure. We are very courteous and hospitible, even to our enemies. We love God, our Country and our families. We will defend all of them like a tiger protecting her cubs. We love deeply and treat all with respect and we demand the same from others. We have deep traditions (most involve food) and we love our traditions. College football is a religion. Sundays are for church, big meals, and family. All iced tea is sweet. And butter is a staple. Life moves slower here. People smile and wave as they pass you on the street. I hope, through this blog, to bring a little "southern" to all who read it.

Why Southern June Cleaver? Part one
I was not born in the 50's. I guess for many I had an idyllic childhood in the 60's. But there's something quite innocent about the 1950's that conjures up thoughts of a more simple life. Don't get me wrong, every decade has its injustices and problems, but families seemed to be stronger, less stressed than families of today. Fathers were men who knew their responsibilities and Moms knew they were the backbone of the family. Marriage was a true commitment, and parenthood was treated like a full time career.
So why June Cleaver? I remember coming home from school and watching Leave It To Beaver on the big console TV. Even though I was only in elementary school, there was something so mesmerizing about watching a wife and mother that cleaned house and cooked in dresses, high heels, and pearls. June never seemed stressed out about money or time. She didn't worry about politics, terrorists, lay-offs, or retirement savings. She felt confident that her children were learning about reading, writing, and arithmetic in school. Her only worry if a teacher called was if one of the children got caught chewing gum or running in the halls.
I'm thankful for living in the amazing times we are living in now. Technology like cell phones and computers, medical advancements that have wiped out many bad diseases, opportunity for anyone ( including women) who wants to work hard and achieve their dreams. but with so many advancements we are loosing whats important...

You Have To Start Somewhere
Well...I did it! I've been thinking for months and months (this caused tremendous concentration!) to start blogging. I'm not sure why. Maybe I think I can impart some wonderful wisdom on the masses. Maybe I just want something else to clog my over clogged brain. Maybe my ego is just big enough to think that maybe someone out there thinks what I have to say is worth reading. I don't know. But hopefully we'll enjoy this adventure together and have fun too!
